Trees in the parkway are maintained by the Village. Property owners are responsible for maintaining trees on their property.

Damaged, diseased, or dead trees should be removed in accordance with municipal code requirements. Trees with a diameter of 10 inches or more require an inspection and permit for removal. Under certain circumstances, the Village may require hazardous trees to be removed within 60 days, and dead trees within 90 days.

In instances where tree branches from neighboring property are overhanging, especially following a storm, property owners are encouraged to discuss the issue with the neighboring owner first. In some cases, property owners can trim the branches up to their property line without causing permanent damage to the tree. However, they should not go onto the neighbor's property to cut branches.

For concerns regarding parkway trees, please submit a request by selecting the appropriate option related to your concern here.
