Construction activities shall only be permitted between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and between 8:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.

No, the Village does not require a permit to have a garage/rummage sale. However, certain restrictions do apply, see below for details.
When are winter parking regulations in effect?
Winter parking regulations are in effect between October 31 and April 15 of each year.
What agencies provide fire protection services in Algonquin?
The Village of Algonquin does not provide fire protection services. These services are provided by three special districts: Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District, Carpentersville and Countryside Fire Protection District, and Huntley Fire Protection District.

What do I do if my mailbox was damaged by a snow plow?
If a snowplow blade hits a mailbox while removing snow from the Village streets, then the Village will replace the mailbox. If a snowplow blade strikes a mailbox or mailbox post, then the Village is responsible for replacement. If the mailbox or mailbox post is knocked down by the force of the snow striking it, it is not the Village's responsibility to replace it. The mailbox or mailbox post must clearly show evidence of the blade striking either for the Village to be at fault.
How long in advance and after the collection date may garbage and recycling carts be at the curb?
Garbage, recycling, and yard waste may be placed at the curb after 5:00 p.m. the day prior to the collection day, and all garbage and recycling containers shall be removed from the curb by 11:00 p.m. the day of collection.
What are the water conservation guidelines within the Village?
In order to promote public environmental awareness, good husbandry, good conservation practices and to preserve potable water supplies, the use of the Villages potable water for outdoor watering of landscape and lawns is regulated.
What do I need a permit for and what does the permit process involve?
Are fireworks allowed in Algonquin?
Due to the high risk associated with the use of fireworks, Illinois and the Village of Algonquin prohibit the sale, possession, or use of fireworks. Any use or possession of fireworks, without proper permit, can result in penalties ranging from a $100.00 fine to being arrested.
What are the regulations for fire pits?
Permanent fire pits require a building permit and final inspection. Portable fire pits must follow certain size and placement guidelines prior to use. Bonfires and open burning is prohibited unless approved by the applicable Fire Protection District.
What do I need to know to have a pool in my yard?
If the pool (temporary or permanent) is capable of containing water over 24 inches deep, you must go through the building permit process.

Movable, plastic storage sheds or boxes, less than 100 cubic feet, do not require a building permit to install. Storage units 100 cubic feet, and greater, do require a building permit to install.

Trees in the parkway are maintained by the Village. Property owners are responsible for maintaining trees on their property.

Village has adopted 2006 edition of International Residential Code, International Building Code, International Fire Code, International Mechanical Code, International Fuel Gas Code, International Existing Building Code, International Property Maintenance Code, and 2002 National Electrical Code, 1997 Illinois Accessibility Code, current edition of Illinois Energy Conservation Code and Illinois State Plumbing Code.

What is full-depth reclamation (FDR) and how does it differ from resurfacing?
Full-depth reclamation (FDR) is a reconstruction method that recycles the existing pavement and base materials to create a strong new foundation for the road. Its used for roadways with significant structural issues. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a new layer of asphalt over existing pavement to improve surface conditions and extend pavement lifetypically used when the road is still structurally sound.

These priorities are reflected in the Villages Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan, which outlines more than $120 million in planned investments through Fiscal Year 2030 across streets, water and sewer systems, parks, and natural areas.

Warranted stop signs meet criteria such as traffic volume, crash history, and visibility, as outlined in national traffic control guidelines. What maintenance programs does the Village have in place?
The Village operates several ongoing maintenance programs to preserve infrastructure and public spaces.
