The Village of Algonquin, IL

Beginning January 1, 2012, refuse collection firms must obtain a Village of Algonquin Commercial Scavenger License to collect or dispose of any commercial waste, refuse, or recycling materials.  This license is required for all firms servicing facilities such as stores, offices, hotels, restaurants, healthcare facilities, etc.  Commercial Scavenger Licenses are effective from January 1 to December 31 of each year.

The goals of the Commercial Scavenger Licensing Program are to ensure commercial waste services are provided by a qualified vendor; specify minimum service standards; ensure hauler's equipment is in good working order and do not pose a threat to the environment or the public; and to establish appropriate bonds and insurance requirements in the event there is damage on Village right-of-ways or to customers' property.

While the licensing responsibility falls to the refuse collection firm, businesses are responsible for verifying that the scavenger service they choose is licensed by the Village of Algonquin.
