The Village of Algonquin, IL

The Village of Algonquin contracts with Kane and McHenry Counties for domesticated animal control services.  For concerns, complaints, and stray animals, contact the Algonquin Police Department non-emergency number at 847-658-4531. The police will handle the matter and contact animal control for necessary assistance.  For all other matters, depending on your household location, please contact one of the following agencies:

Lost Pet?  To report a lost pet, please contact the Police non-emergency number at 847-658-4531.  Any lost pets that the Algonquin Police Department finds are transported to the County Animal Control facility in which the pet is found.

Lost pets that are microchipped have a higher rate of return. Please contact the animal control services listed above or your vet to have your pet microchipped.

Kane County Intergovernmental Agreement Required Statement:

Depending on where you live in Kane County, you may be served by your local animal control facility, your police department, a state agency, or Kane County Animal Control. In order to handle your concern in the most efficient manner, first determine whether you live in an incorporated or unincorporated area of Kane County to make sure you contact the appropriate agency.

If you live in an incorporated village, town, or city: 
For concerns, complaints, and stray animals, contact your police department or town hall first. The police will handle the matter, and will contact Kane County Animal Control for assistance when necessary. If you are a resident of Elgin or Aurora, please contact your city’s animal control facility first.

If you live in an unincorporated area of Kane County: 
Your concerns, complaints and stray animal control are handled by Kane County Animal Control. Please call 630-232-3555.
