About This Location

High Hill Park and Nature Preserve is a 30.1-acre park of which 10.4 of them are wetlands. The park derives its name from the fact that it is actually two parks: the first, a southern park on Harnish Drive between Providence Drive and Roaring Brook Lane, is a nice neighborhood park with a playground, shelter, swing set and sand pit. From there is a long hill with a path that winds down to the street adjacent to the second, northern park. This park has a large field for team sports and a path to walk on but not much else. However, in between these park sections is the nature preserve with a lake and stream. From the top park, it's a nice view.

The Village of Algonquin received a Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant in 1994 from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) to help develop this park facility.
