About This Location

Spella Park is a massive 43-acre park. Named after late Village President Ted Spella, this park has two entrances: one located next to the Algonquin Area Public Library on Harnish Drive and the other at the intersection of Wintergreen Terrace and Fairway View Drive. The western park has a playground, pavilion, a shoot-around basketball court, and tennis courts. The eastern park gives you easy access to the walking paths that thread their way through the park. The highlight of this park comes in the winter because there is a massive hill that separates the west from the east park. This is the premier sledding hill of the Algonquin area and it also gives a spectacular view any time of year.

Located near the library so you can give both your mind and body a workout.

The Village of Algonquin received a Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant in 2005 from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) to help develop this park facility.
