About the Economic Development Commission

The Economic Development Commission (EDC) meets with the purpose of structuring sound economic programs within the Village of Algonquin.  The EDC aids in the Village’s economic development by conducting research and creating an inventory of resources.  The research gathered aids in the preparation of the industrial fact profiles, which are used in presentation to industrial and commercial prospects that are considering the Village of Algonquin as a viable location. The Commission makes its findings and recommendations to the Village Board in the manner provided in the Municipal Code.

The EDC is a citizen’s based commission composed of seven (7) Commissioners, one (1) Commissioner, of the seven, shall be appointed Chairperson by the Village President. The appointment, by the President, will occur with the advice and consent of the Village Board.  The EDC meets the second Thursday of January, March, May, June, September, and November at 7:00 p.m. at Ganek Municipal Center, 2200 Harnish Drive, Algonquin.

Residents are encouraged to submit an application to serve on one of the village’s many boards and commissions. Applications can be submitted to the Village Clerk’s Office below.  Appointments are made by the entire Village Board annually or when vacancies occur.
