Willoughby Farms Park Master Plan Project The Village of Algonquin is creating a master plan for Willoughby Farms Park to guide future development and conservation efforts. This plan aims to meet community needs and preserve natural resources. A Community Open House will be held on November 9 between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Visit the link for more information.
Free Leaf and Brush Collection Underway Groot will provide free collection of leaves and branches to all Algonquin residents from the first regular collection of October through December 13 on your regular collection day. Program details are available by clicking "more."
General Election | November 5 The General Election will take place on Tuesday, November 5. To access additional voter information, including early voting, referenda, and polling locations, please visit the Kane or McHenry County Clerk website, based on your county of residence.
Miracle on Main | December 7 Join us for the magical Miracle on Main on Saturday, December 7, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Plaza on Main St! Celebrate the season with live music and festive performances starting at 4:00 PM. Don’t miss the arrival of Santa Claus and the enchanting tree lighting ceremony! Daylight Saving Time Ends | November 3 Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 3. Don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour before bed on Saturday, November 2. As this date approaches, the Village of Algonquin would like to remind all residents to change the batteries in their smoke alarms and carbon dioxide detectors when they turn their clocks back one hour.
Village Offices Closed | November 28 & 29 The Ganek Municipal Center and the Public Works Facility will be closed on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29, in observance of the holiday. Groot refuse, recycling, and yard waste collection will be delayed by one day for the entire week.
New Water & Sewer Rates Effective November 2024 New water and sewer rates will be effective with Algonquin customers' November utility bills. For additional details, click "more."
Redevelopment Opportunity for Former Algonquin State Bank Site The Village of Algonquin is seeking proposals to redevelop the former Algonquin State Bank site at 221 South Main Street. This location in the Old Town District is envisioned as a restaurant space and includes a 5,900-square-foot building adjacent to public parking and downtown amenities. Overnight Parking Restrictions through April 15 Overnight parking restrictions are now in effect through April 15. Individuals who wish to park a vehicle overnight on the street will need to complete the 'Overnight Parking Request Form' by clicking "more." Please be aware that there may be restrictions on these requests.

Construction Update: Harrison Street Open The construction on Harrison and Washington Streets is nearing completion with the recent reopening of Harrison Street. Detours remain in place for other sections of Washington Street, but local access to residences and businesses will continue to be available.

Adopt-A-Drain Program The Village of Algonquin maintains 15,000 storm structures along more than 137 miles of residential roadways. We invite residents to adopt a storm drain in their neighborhood. If you're unfamiliar, storm drains are the grates found along street edges and parkways. They collect and direct stormwater away from homes to detention ponds and other waterways.
