General Election Information

Halloween Trick-or-Treat Hours & Safety Tips
Trick-or-Treating hours in the Village of Algonquin are from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on October 31. For additional information, including tips from the Algonquin Police Department to those participating, click the link below.

Free Leaf and Brush Collection Begins October 3
Groot will provide free collection of leaves and branches to all Algonquin residents from the first regular collection of October through December 13 on your regular collection day. Program details are available by clicking "more."

Algonquin's Wastewater Treatment Facility Featured by Powering Chicago
The Village of Algonquin was recently featured by Powering Chicago, highlighting our state-of-the-art Wastewater Treatment Facility! Every day, this facility processes 3-4 million gallons of wastewater, separating pollutants, removing biological nutrients, and ensuring the water is thoroughly purified and disinfected before being safely released into the Fox River.

Algonquin Police Department Wins 1st Place in Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge
The Algonquin Police Department proudly received first place in the annual Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge, a program encouraging traffic safety among state law enforcement agencies. Read more about the department's achievement below.

Washington & Harrison Street Project Updates
The next phase of construction on Washington Street began last month, requiring road closures at the Washington and Harrison Street intersections. This work, set to be complete this fall, includes storm sewer enhancements and streetscape improvements. Please follow the posted detours, though local access to residences and businesses will remain open.

Edgewood Drive Detour Information
The replacement of the retaining wall on Edgewood Drive is underway and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. During construction, westbound traffic between IL Route 31 and West End Drive will be rerouted via Beach Drive and Cardinal Drive, while eastbound traffic will remain open.

Respond to the Community Survey by October 25
At the end of September, the Algonquin Community Survey was mailed to randomly selected households. Selected residents will have until the end of October to complete the survey online or return it by mail. Previous survey results can be viewed below.

Save the Date: Miracle on Main
Saturday, December 7 for the Miracle on Main featuring live music entertainment, Merry Markey on Main, tree lighting, ice sculpting, live reindeer, train rides, and of course the Jolly Man himself, Santa and Mrs. Claus. The event will take place in Downtown Algonquin on Main Street.

Overnight Parking Restrictions Begin October 31
Starting October 31, individuals who wish to park a vehicle overnight on the street will need to complete the 'Overnight Parking Request Form' by clicking "more." Please be aware that there may be restrictions on these requests.

Surplus Equipment Auction
The Village of Algonquin is holding an online auction for surplus municipal equipment through GovDeals. This auction features tools and equipment no longer in use by the Village.
