Village Construction Projects - In Construction - Edgewood Drive Retaining Wall Replacement
The Village of Algonquin will begin the Edgewood Drive Retaining Wall Replacement Project in Summer 2024, with an expected completion by Fall 2024, weather permitting. This project will replace two retaining walls on Edgewood Drive with an enhanced block material to combat deterioration from salt damage and improve longevity.
Detour Information:
Westbound traffic on Edgewood Drive, between IL Route 31 and West End Drive, is closed. Drivers should follow the posted detour signs, which direct vehicles to use Beach Drive and Cardinal Drive to bypass the construction area. Eastbound traffic on Edgewood Drive will remain open.
Project Overview:
- Replace aging articulated block walls
- New material selected for superior durability and salt resistance
- Preventive measures to ensure structural integrity
Please exercise caution in the work zone. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained throughout the construction period.

- Retaining walls along the north side of Edgewood Drive, between Harper Drive and Illinois Route 31
