The Village of Algonquin, IL

The Village of Algonquin has received two awards from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for financial reporting excellence for Fiscal Year 2022-2023.

The Village received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), marking the twentieth consecutive year it has received this award. The ACFR provides a detailed presentation of the Village’s financial condition and is evaluated based on its full disclosure to the public.

Additionally, the Village received the Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for its Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR). This is the sixth consecutive year the Village has received this award. The PAFR simplifies the detailed information in the ACFR into a format accessible to those without a background in public finance.

These awards highlight the Village’s commitment to financial transparency and clarity. The GFOA evaluates reports based on reader appeal, clarity, and overall presentation.

Last year, the Village also received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its annual operating and capital budget for Fiscal Year 2023-2024. By receiving these two additional awards, the Village earned the GFOA’s Triple Crown Award. Algonquin is one of 24 municipalities in Illinois and one of 308 governments nationwide to receive this designation in 2023, which certifies that an entity’s financial documents meet high standards for clarity, transparency, and quality.
