Consolidated Election Packets Available
Election Packets for the 2025 Village of Algonquin Consolidated Election will be available beginning Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Courtesy packets can be obtained electronically by registering at this link.
Village President, Village Clerk and three (3) Village Trustee seats are up for election; each a four-year term.
Additional information is available from your County Clerk’s office as well as the Illinois State Board of Elections 2025 Candidates Guide which can be found at www.elections.il.gov.
The first day to file nominating petitions at the Village of Algonquin is on Tuesday, November 12 at 8:00 a.m. and the last day to file is Monday, November 18, 2024 prior to 5:00 p.m. The Village of Algonquin will accept petitions as follows:
- November 12, 2024: Walk-ins 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- November 13, 2024: By appointment only 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- November 14, 2024: By appointment only 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- November 15, 2024: By appointment only 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- November 16, 2024: By appointment only 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- November 18, 2024: Walk-ins 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Petitions will not be accepted after 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2024
Appointments must be made with Village Clerk Fred Martin at FredMartin@algonquin.org or Deputy Clerk Michelle Weber at MichelleWeber@algonquin.org or 847-658-5609.
On the first day to file, Tuesday, November 12, 2024, Village Offices will be open at 8:00 a.m. Those arriving by 8:00 a.m., will be considered a “simultaneous filer” and will be placed into a lottery to determine ballot placement. On the last day to file, Monday, November 18, 2024, Village Offices will be open at 8:00 a.m., filings received between the hours of 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. will be considered “simultaneously filed” and will be placed into a lottery to determine ballot placement. Simultaneous Filing Lottery, if needed, will take place on Monday, November 25, 2025 at 1:00 p.m., which is within the time schedule prescribed by State law. The lottery will, of course, will be open to the public with notice posted 7 days prior to the lottery.
The Village Clerk and staff cannot provide a review of nominating papers or legal opinions regarding petition papers. Candidates are strongly encouraged to consult their own legal counsel.
