Free Leaf and Brush Collection begins October 3
Groot will collect appropriately bagged leaves and bundled brush at no cost to residents on their regular collection day between October 3 and December 13.
Leaves should be placed in either standard paper yard waste bags or in reusable 32-gallon trash containers that are clearly marked with a large and visible, red “X.” Loose piles of leaves will not be collected.
Groot will also offer free pickup of branches during this time. Branches must not exceed 2 inches in diameter and must be tied in bundles, each not exceeding 4-feet in length, 2-feet in diameter, and less than 50 pounds in weight.
A collection sticker is necessary for other types of yard waste, such as grass clippings, plantings, sod, and woodchips. If any bags or cans contain a mixture of leaves with other yard waste, they will also require a collection sticker.
Placing leaves or yard debris on the street or sidewalk is prohibited by the Algonquin Municipal Code.
