Algonquin Receives Award for Popular Annual Financial Report
The Village of Algonquin was recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for its Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for Fiscal Year 2021 – 2022.
The PAFR is a summarized report that presents the complex information found within the Village’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) in an understandable format for readers without a background in public finance. Unlike the ACFR, the PAFR is an elective report prepared by the Village and is not required by statute.
The award program evaluates a jurisdiction's PAFR based on reader appeal, understandability, and overall impression. In 2021, 46 municipalities in Illinois received the award. This is the fifth consecutive year the Village has received this distinction.
"This accomplishment reminds our residents that our administrative staff is fully committed to ensuring accurate and transparent financial reporting," said Village President Debby Sosine. "It reflects their ongoing dedication and reinforces the trust we have in their efforts."
