Now Hiring: Maintenance Worker I - General Services

STARTING SALARY: $54,749.64, per the Local 150 union contract
HOURS PER WEEK: 40+ hours per week. You will be required to have a flexible schedule (including nights and weekends) as you will be participating in a schedule as an on-call employee for the Department.

GENERAL DUTIES:
Duties include, but are not limited to: labor activities related to the maintenance of parks, public facilities and the Village’s urban forest, roadside trash collection, asphalt maintenance, painting, site improvements, wetland maintenance, street light maintenance, sprinkler system repairs, fencing repairs, street sign maintenance, and semi-skilled trade work (plumbing, electrical, roofing, and carpentry), and concrete work. Work may also include various seasonal projects including, but not limited to, ice rink maintenance, snow plowing, sidewalk shoveling, installation/removal of holiday decorations, and the planting of annual flower displays. The work may also include operation of motorized / heavy equipment.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Degree or equivalent or any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work. Illinois Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class “A”, with air brake and tanker endorsements, or the ability to obtain one within six (6) months of the date of hire (note: CDL training will be provided in-house for qualified hires). Ability and willingness to respond to emergency situations twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
