Street Sweeping
The Village currently contracts with Lakeshore Recycling Systems for street sweeping services to maintain our 126 centerline-miles of roadway. Street sweeper routes operate regularly from mid-March through November, as weather allows. Operators drive sweeping routes in all Algonquin residential areas and the Old Town area.
Street sweeping is performed to clear debris left by winter snowplowing, to keep storm drains free of obstruction, and to help prevent pollutants from entering the drainage system. The sweeping is not intended to remove leaves placed in the street by property owners. Leaves from private properties should be mulched or bagged and disposed of through Groot's residential yard waste program.
